15 Minutes of Fame.. and GO!

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009 by Johan H, CEO

This weekend the website Cheat Code Central featured a cluster review of a handful of Community Games, including Colosseum. It’s cool that Community Games actually get some attention. It’s even better that Colosseum gets attention (in my opinion, and no, I’m not biased at all).  Since I happen to love Colosseum the link goes directly to the second page, though I recommend you to read it all. It’s good stuff really. Have a look yourself, http://www.cheatcc.com/extra/xblcminireviews_2.html.

Also, the UK Official Xbox Magazine had this Community Games feature in the February issue of the printed copy. For you that don’t live in the UK or is not interested to buy a copy yourselves, there’s an interview with us on their webpage, which is rather good actually. Check it out here, http://www.oxm.co.uk/article.php?id=7796.

Colosseum Update (XBLCG)

Thursday, January 15th, 2009 by Johan H, CEO

Hey guys! Besides developing new games, the dev team has been busy making Colosseum a slightly better game. The new build includes a better trial mode adjusted to fit the 8 minutes trial time. You can now access the Tuturial and the maps Ruins and Dark Swamp in singeplayer, and Ruins in local multiplayer. We have also managed to get rid of some bugs. We appreciate that you guys have reported bugs, which have made our work easier. A special thanks to Sahryx for pinpointing a certain annoying code 4 bug. Currently, Colosseum is in the approval process and will be up and running any day soon.

So, have a look at the new trial guys, and for you that have already purchased the game; happy bug-free gaming!

Something pretty cool, huh?

Monday, January 12th, 2009 by Johan H, CEO

Today when Lars was (obviously) not working he found something rather cool on YouTube. A guy calling himself Erick has posted a video of himself playing Colosseum. In the video he fights and beats the final boss – the Mentor on the hardest difficulty mode with, according to me, the worst class Mace. This is rather impressive since not all the guys at the office has managed to beat the Mentor like this.

Sales, News, and Nothing

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008 by Johan H, CEO

Hey dudes, according to Major Nelson Colosseum is the 4th best selling community game so far, which is cool, with Word Soup and Weapon of Choice leading the way. Still, we have no clue of how much sales he’s talking about. So to the other news…

So, how do you guys like Colosseum?

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008 by Johan H, CEO

Hey dudes! Colosseum has been up for grab on Xbox LIVE Community Games for a week by now, and we’re seeing mixed reviews and comments so far on the game. Some dudes really love the game, which is cool, while others seem to hate it like it’s school kitchen’s peasoup. We guys at Shortfuse would really appreciate your comments on the game, good things or bad things. We wont bite recieving bad comments (except Lars perhaps). So comment on!

Lars and I are going to Dreamhack in Jönköping November 27-29 to let you Swedish guys try Colosseum. Jönköping is a medium sized town in Sweden very similar to Salt Lake City in one aspect. Anyway, I’ve landed a deal with Steel Series so we do have some nice gaming headphones waiting for you if you participate and win our Colosseum tournament this weekend.

O Happy Days

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008 by Johan H, CEO

This Sunday Colosseum passed peer review (many thanks to all you reviewers) and is up for release on Xbox LIVE Community Games on November 19, which is cool! We decided to roll for 800 microsoft points, as Colosseum turned out being pretty slick, according to us. I have to say that late Friday night (November 19), when we submitted Colosseum, was quite a surreal night for us – two years of awesome work sent away with a simple click.

Anyway, this week has been a real chill week. The office has not been overcrowded so to speak =). Most of the guys have enjoyed to actually play other developers’ games like Fallout 3 and Gears of War 2. I’ve not tried Fallout 3 yet but Gears is a blast for sure. Dudes, I just love the chainsaw, WRRRROOOOM WROOOAAAAMM! Hihihi.

So tomorrow is the Big Day when Colosseum goes live. To all you guys who will pick up Colosseum, please feel free to comment your game experiences on the blog. We really like to get your opinions on the game, good ones or bad ones. Cool.

Now I have to clean up my messy desk and gear up for tomorrow’s releaseparty!

Today’s bonus is our latest video made my Lasse:

Crunch time goes super crunch

Thursday, November 13th, 2008 by Johan H, CEO

This is the week of weeks. The crunch time is going exponential and we’re already clockin in about 50 hours worktime each since monday. This is pretty insane really. Tons of work, no real food, little sleep and a lot oc cola and coffein makes life kinda… special, like a week long LAN, but serious (?). Okey, enough of the martyrdom stuff. Today we have overcome some really huge, annoying crash bugs that we experienced yesterday, which is good. The art guys and the designers have put everything into place and made some final balance adjustments. Also, the singleplayer campaign works smooth, and for you guys who have already tried the multiplayer part, this might be cool for you. Colosseum is up for playtest for devs at Communty Games and we’ll submit Colosseum to peer review before this weekend.

This is pretty exciting to be honest and the original guys that have been here for two years can barely believe we’re so close now. As you probably know, we’re self loving people I’ll post some crunch photos (yes, they might look that any other photo so far, but what the hell). For once, someone brought a real camera so the photos are actually decent.

Welcome to our lives!

Big Time November 19!

Friday, November 7th, 2008 by Johan H, CEO

Morning guys! Here’s a status report. The dev team is breaking all sleep regulations finishing Colosseum. Nowadays it’s mostly about putting the last content into place, testing, tweaking, balancing and such things. Kinda hard work really. On the good side then; Colosseum will be released November 19 on Xbox LIVE Community Games, YAY, check the trial out by then! We’ll be hosting a Release Party the same day at Gothia Science Park in Skövde (Sweden) with food and drinks for free. Don’t miss that out if you’re in the area. Otherwise, do your own party. As the art guys are pretty busy I made this official release poster to celebrate the release:

I have to say that I’m pretty talanted so I’ll send this to print. I’m still pondering if 10 000 units will do or if I should double that.

Okey, what’s else. Some cool publicity has begun to show up following the Community Games Launch Party in San Francisco. If you’re interested you can see a video interview with Sebastian by Gamespot here, and check out Destructoid’s event coverage here. There’s some cool games hitting Xbox LIVE Community Games on November 19 really.

Now I’ll go back to study those endless IRS forms. Anybody wanna swap jobs?

The San Fransisco Community Games Party!

Monday, November 3rd, 2008 by Johan H, CEO

Shortfuse’s Sebastian and Johan were attending the Xbox LIVE Community Games Launch Party in San Francisco on October 29. The event was pretty awesome and we had a good time with the guys on the XNA team, the press, and fellow game developers. Check out this post for full story.
